A dental implant is a replacement "root" that literally takes the place of your real tooth. Dental implants are an excellent way to replace missing teeth. The advantage of an implant over a fixed tooth-supported bridge is that the implant is a stand-alone replacement. It does not depend on the adjacent teeth as does a tooth-supported fixed bridge.
Implants can also provide anchors for a full or partial denture.
An implant is surgically placed into the jawbone and allowed to heal and fuse with the bone. The crown, bridge or denture attachment is then built into the implant. Drs. Esser, Krueger and Borja offer both placement and restoration of implants.
